Mon Seul Désir ~ My Only Desire
This beautiful mythological artwork originally created in 1944 has a medieval folk aesthetic with an abundance of symbolism.
The overflowing cup – Emotional fulfillment.
The tree of life – Abundance & good health.
The Lamb – Purity & innocence.
The Unicorn – Healing & divine magic.
The name Mon Seul Désir ~ My Only Desire is inspired by the tapestry series The Lady and the Unicorn, a collection of six individual pieces woven by the Flemish C1500 which became a national treasure of France.
Each work depicts a sense ~ touch, taste, smell, hearing & sight. The sixth piece, “Mon Seul Désir” presents the sixth sense a deeper way of understanding the world through multiple dimensions. The eternal soul, free will but also representing the heart, courtly love and desire.
There are many interpretations to this mysterious tapestry, “Mon Seul Désir” ~
“my sole desire”, "with my unique desire", "love desires only beauty of soul" and “by my own free will”.
