Whisper Ferns

This original artwork was produced in the early 1940’s, the feathered ferns cascade the canvas to form a delicate lace like print design.

The ancient fern has a history rich in symbolism. Victorian's viewed them with fascination and were thought to evoke magic and good luck for new lovers. To the indigenous Maori of New Zealand, the fern represented new beginnings and eternal youth. In Japan the fern symbolizes family and the hope for future generations.

This archive print has been lovingly restored and reproduced using digital printing and ethically sourced materials.
